From San Jose to Monteverde by car:

Go north on the Interamerican Highway until the km.149 sign. Take the right exit to Sardinal and continue for 27 kilometers following the signs towards Monteverde. Monteverde Country Lodge is located 300 meters South West of Cerro Plano Elementary School and 50 meters from the Hotel de Lucia Inn.

From San Jose to Monteverde by bus:

Buses depart at 6:30 a.m. and at 2:30 p.m. from the old bus stop to Puntarenas, located at Calle 14, Avenida 11 and 9. The morning bus passes Lagartos around 9:00 a.m. arriving in Monteverde at 11:00 a.m. The afternoon bus passes Lagartos around 5:00 p.m. arriving in Monteverde at 7:00 p.m.

From Puntarenas to Monteverde by bus:

The same as coming from San Jose (look at the map below). There are two bus schedules going from Puntarenas to Monteverde: one at 1:00 p.m. (Via Las Juntas) and at 2:00 p.m. (Direct); both arrive in Monteverde at 5:00 p.m.

From Guanacaste by bus:

If driving from Guanacaste please check with the hotel for directions. There are buses that leave from Tamarindo, Flamingo, Coco Beaches, Nicaragua, Liberia, Santa Cruz and Nicoya that go towards San Jose. Taking one of these buses, you can reach an intersection called "Lagartos" and wait there for one of the buses to Monteverde, which come from San José and pass through Lagartos at 9:00 a.m. And 5:00 p.m. everyday. We highly recommend arriving there before the indicated time in case the bus passes by there earlier than usual.

From Tilaran by Bus:

Driving from Arenal, check your hotel for travel directions. A bus leaves Tilarán daily at 1:00 p.m. arriving in Monteverde at 3:30 p.m.
